Floyd Mayweather Requested To Lose To 18-Time WWE Champion

In 2008, WWE introduced a crossover storyline featuring boxing legend Floyd Mayweather.

The plot would culminate in a match between him and The Big Show at WrestleMania XXIV in a No Disqualification match.

The seeds for the feud were planted at WWE No Way Out in February of that year, where Mayweather attacked Show for bullying Rey Mysterio, leaving him with a bloodied nose.

The segment was followed by promos and a weigh-in leading up to the WrestleMania match.

Floyd Mayweather was massively outweighed by his opponent and dominated during the match, resulting in interference from his entourage.

The boxer then used a steel chair to immobilize ‘the giant’ and later, used brass knuckles to knock him out for a boxing-style 10 count and victory.

It was WWE’s version of the David vs. Goliath story, but if it were up to Floyd “Money” Mayweather, the match could have had a different result, as recently revealed.

Floyd Mayweather Wanted To Lose To The Big Show

Jelly Roll, who recently featured in a celebrity tag team match at WWE SummerSlam, revealed that Floyd Mayweather wanted to lose to The Big Show.

The rapper appeared on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, where he discussed his love for wrestling and competing at SummerSlam with Randy Orton by his side.

He later confessed that he volunteered to lose the match against the team of Drew McIntyre and Logan Paul.

When asked by the host why he chose to go down that route, Jelly Roll revealed that he did not believe that a celebrity had any right to pin a wrestler during their first match.

He also stated that the loss opened the door for him to return and compete again. Finally, he revealed a Floyd Mayweather story, which apparently was unknown until now.

I was like, “I don’t want to be remembered as a celebrity who did the thing,” and then Triple H stopped me. This will probably be on Unreal because it was so gangster. He said, “I will tell you this, though.” He said Floyd wanted to lose to The Big Show. I don’t know if I should be sharing that, but he told me that, and I thought that was cool. [H/T: Fightful]
