Finn Balor Explains How Creating Something New Is More Important Than Titles

The Demon Finn Balor

Finn Balor claims the “buzz” of creating something new holds a higher value to him than becoming a Champion.

Balor has earned success across the world, especially in the United States and Japan, but it is the thrill of a new challenge and building something that excites the first ever WWE Universal Champion.

Discussing his drive, Balor has shared that he is focused on “chasing the buzz or creating something new” instead of looking to be a Champion in WWE.

Since losing the United States Championship last April, Balor has not lifted a Championship Title. But he has been instrumental in helping grow The Judgment Day, who are involved in three high profile matches at WrestleMania 39.

Rhea Ripley and Dominik Mysterio both competed on night one, with Balor set to do battle on night two.

Speaking with UFC legend Daniel Cormier on EPSN: MMA, Balor explained that he is not ignoring the chance to become WWE or Universal Champion, just that he feels his current work gives him more reward.

“I don’t want to say that I don’t value championships as much as some people do, but I don’t think they’re the most important thing, to me, anymore. I’ve been very fortunate that I’ve won gold everywhere I’ve went, whether it was in the United Kingdom on the Independents, in Japan, in Mexico, NXT, here I’ve been Universal Champion, US Champion, Intercontinental Champion.

When you’re chasing gold, and once you get it, it’s one thing, but now I’m just chasing the buzz or creating something new. That to me, is more valuable than being a champion.”

Finn Balor takes on Edge in a Hell in a Cell match later tonight at WrestleMania 39, with SoFi Stadium set to experience The Demon, Balor’s alter ego.

After removing Edge and taking over The Judgement Day last year, Balor has led the faction to great success, with Rhea Ripley becoming the new Smackdown Women’s Champion, and Dominik Mysterio one of the most hated heels in WWE.

Edge and Rey Mysterio defeated The Judgment Day at last September’s Clash at the Castle, Dominik floored his father and the Rated R Superstar, before joining forces with Balor.

Balor’s feud with Edge has been building with momentum swinging between the pair.

Edge has shared his ideas for Hell in a Cell, as he looks to punish Balor for last year’s betrayal and attacks on both him and his wife Beth Phoenix.

Two week’s ago on Raw, Edge called for Balor to release his Demon, something that WWE wanted to happen earlier this year.
