Female WWE Star Reveals Controversial Angle Was Her Idea
Maxxine Dupri once pitched a controversial angle to the WWE creative team.
On the March 11, 2024, episode of WWE Monday Night Raw, during a tag team match involving Maxxine Dupri and Ivy Nile vs. Candice LeRae and Indi Hartwell, LeRae stopped the match to verbally attack Dupri.
During her rant, she brought up Dupri’s brother Wyatt, who tragically died in a car accident in 2017 at age 22. This moment shocked fans due to its intense and personal nature, especially since it referenced a real-life tragedy.
In a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet on his Insight podcast, WWE star Maxxine Dupri revealed that the idea to bring up her late brother was actually hers. She wanted a compelling reason to leave the ring during the match and saw it as a way to acknowledge her brother’s memory, regardless of the negative framing.
“Yes, 100%. It was that line I said, as I was the originator of the idea. So I said, we had the layout of the match where she’s going to yell at me and I’m going to walk out of the ring. And I just felt like if you want me to walk out of the ring, give me a reason to walk out of the ring.”
How WWE Star Maxxine Dupri’s Mom Reacted When Her Dead Son Was Mentioned?
However, Maxxine Dupri admitted she forgot to warn her mother that the tragic mention would happen on WWE TV, which made the moment emotionally difficult for her family.
“My mom was definitely emotional about it. But again, she wasn’t emotional that Candice said something. She just didn’t know that that was going to come up. But if I would have told her, she would feel the same way that I feel. But Mondays are crazy, you know, the day gets going, you’re busy. I forgot to give her a warning,” she added.
