Ex-WWE Star Rules Out AEW Chris Jericho Match
The AEW World Tag Team Championship match at Worlds End appears to be off after Kenny Omega was removed due to illness and an ex-WWE star won’t be replacing him.
Kenny Omega is out of AEW indefinitely due to suffering from diverticulitis. Prior to that diagnosis, Omega and Chris Jericho had laid down the challenge to Ricky Starks and Big Bill for the AEW Tag Team Championship at Worlds End. During their back and forth with the champions, Chris Jericho got a big reaction when he described Starks as a “better dressed, less charismatic Enzo Amore.”
Enzo Amore was of course Big Bill’s tag team partner in WWE when the current AEW star was known as Big Cass. With Amore’s name-drop getting a lot of attention, many wondered if he could be part of future plans.
Enzo Amore Not Heading To AEW
Speaking at a virtual signing with K&S WrestleFest, Enzo Amore revealed he won’t be joining Chris Jericho as Omega’s replacement to go up against Big Bill and Ricky Starks at Worlds End:
Would I? That is definitely something that is not in the cards right now because I am a free agent. I don’t know what the deal is over there, I don’t know who is doing what, who has the pencil, I don’t know who is wrestling who. I just know that I’m damn proud of Big Bill holding the tag team titles.
The last thing I would ever want to do is break his leg and take it away from him. I love that guy. I’m pulling for him, I’m rooting for him. I’m not trying to beat him up. Everyone knows I would beat him up, I would beat the hell out of him. [Smiles, implying sarcasm]. Seriously, Big Bill, how unbelievable is that story. What he overcame, where he’s at right now, nobody is happier than I am to see the success of that man.
Chris Jericho told the world that he’d find a new partner for Worlds End and with Amore ruling himself out of contention it remains to be seen who Le Champion will enlist to help him win gold.
