Ex-WWE Star Returns To AEW At Rampage Tapings

AEW Rampage Arena

Dynamite was another big night of action for AEW in Chicago, Illinois ahead of Forbidden Door but Rampage will be notable on Friday as a former WWE star returns to the company.

You might know John Hennigan by one of his many, many names but most wrestling fans will be familiar with him as John Morrison during his time in WWE. The former Intercontinental Champion left WWE for the second time in late 2021 as the company continued its roster cuts but Morrison has continued competing ever since.

The star debuted for AEW in May 2022 when he was part of the first Owen Hart Foundation Tournament, losing to Samoa Joe in the first round under the name Johnny Elite. He wrestled two more bouts for the company, defeating Marq Quen on Dark and losing to Miro in one of the Bulgarian’s four matches in 2022.

Now PWInsider has reported that at the Rampage tapings that took place following Dynamite, Johnny Elite returned to AEW and this time it looks like he is here to stay. His return is said to have come as part of an angle with The Acclaimed and Daddy Ass and he will be paired with QT Marshall’s group which also includes Powerhouse Hobbs and Harley Cameron. Another name change is in the works as well as it is believed he will be known as either Johnny Television or Johnny TV.
