Ex-WWE Star Has Major Effect Not Seen In Years
Several ex-WWE stars are making waves in the wrestling business now their non-competes have come to an end but perhaps nobody is making a bigger splash than Mustafa Ali.
Mustafa Ali was the first to reveal he had been released by WWE in September 2023 with a raft of talent released including the likes of Dolph Ziggler, Shelton Benjamin, Dana Brooke, and Matt Riddle.
The former Ziggler, Nic Nemeth shocked TNA fans at Hard To Kill and has since made his in-ring debut for the promotion. That came after Nemeth appeared at Wrestle Kingdom 18, starting a feud with NJPW star David Finlay. Dana Brooke also debuted for TNA under a new moniker while Riddle is competing in an NJPW ring again.
Mustafa Ali On His Own World Tour After WWE Exit
One star who has swerved major promotions thus far is Mustafa Ali who instead is promoting his own world tour as he embarks on indie shows around the globe. Ali is using his abandoned WWE character of a politician, aiming to show he had much more to offer than the failed leader of Retribution. And it seems Ali is having the desired effect.
Fightful Select reported that they had heard from promoters on the indie scene that Mustafa Ali was having an impact on ticket sales that has not been seen for a recently departed WWE star in years.
