Ex-WWE Star’s Interesting Answer To Possible Return After 17 Years
A former WWE superstar seems interested in a return if it is the right kind of match.
In the world of WWE, it seems like anything is possible when it comes to wrestlers returning to the company. Legends like Bruno Sammartino, The Ultimate Warrior, Bret Hart, and CM Punk left the company in anger but eventually found their way back.
Gene Snitsky is not going to be confused with those Hall of Famers in terms of his WWE career, but he was part of the company from 2003 to 2008 in the Ruthless Aggression Era.
Snitsky’s claim to fame in WWE history is the guy who punted a plastic baby and had a catchphrase where he said, “It wasn’t my fault.”
At the age of 55 years old, Snitsky doesn’t wrestle often but he recently told Insight’s Chris Van Vliet that he’d be open to a Royal Rumble match return if asked.
“I don’t know—you have to ask them. Like I said, I was trying to keep myself in good shape and condition. At this point in my life, I wouldn’t even consider a part-time schedule. But a one-off at the Royal Rumble? Absolutely—’cause it keeps my face out there, it’s good for my shop and brand.”
How Did Snitsky’s 2023 WWE Return Happen?
There was a Snitsky cameo appearance on the November 6, 2023 edition of Raw when he said, “That wasn’t my fault” to Chelsea Green. Snitsky explained to Van Vliet how that happened.
“It just happened. Davari is one of my best friends. I traveled with him at WWE. He’s one of the road agents now. So he was like, ‘Hey, are you stopping by the Wilkes Barre show?’ I’m like, ‘Well, I wasn’t planning to, are you going to be there?’ He’s like, Yeah. I said, alright, we’ll take a ride up.
So me and my wife took a ride up, and we’re just sitting and catering with Daivari, John Cone comes up to me, he’s like, ‘Hey, they have an idea for a backstage segment with Chelsea Green.’ I was like, ‘Oh, cool.’
I’ve known Chelsea forever, plus I think she’s awesome, the character is great. So I was like, hell yeah, I’ll do it. And then literally one take, and that was it, it was crazy. She’s just so good. It’s funny, just trying to stay in character is half the battle sometimes, because it was funny.”
Wait for it.
