Ex-WWE Star Choosing Children Over Wrestling

Former WWE Divas Champion Maryse has opened up about choosing to focus on family instead of returning to the ring.

The Canadian star first arrived in WWE in 2006 and went on to hold the Divas Championship on two occasions before being released by the company in 2011. Maryse would return in 2016 but has made only sporadic in-ring appearances during that time.

Good news followed outside of the ring in 2024, with Maryse announcing that she was tumour-free after a lengthy battle with Ovarian Serous Borderline Tumors. The star underwent a hysterectomy as part of the treatment.

The 41 year-old shares two daughters, six year-old Monroe Sky and five year-old Madison Jade, with husband and fellow WWE Superstar, Mike ‘The Miz’ Mizanin.

Speaking to ‘PEOPLE’ ahead of the first WWE Raw on Netflix, Maryse revealed that a return to the ring in the near future was unlikely as she focuses solely on her children at present:

“As much as we love what we do, the kids are now priority and number one. So we have to prioritize them in every single aspect.

Especially as a woman, it’s difficult with two kids. I can’t travel the way I used to. And then I don’t want to. I want to be there for my kids. And that’s what makes me happy.

I want to go to bed at night and know that I’m in the same house as my kids, so as much as I love the business, I miss it, I choose my kids.”

WWE Star Set To Challenge Former Divas

Maryse could battle current WWE Superstar Chelsea Green should she wish to step back into the squared circle.

The always entertaining Green was crowned the first-ever WWE Women’s United States Champion after defeating Michin at Saturday Night’s Main Event on 14th December and recently revealed that she is considering hosting an open challenge to all former WWE Divas Champions.
