Ex-WWE Star Blasts Company For Misogyny In Contract Negotiations
An ex-WWE star has called out the promotion for its misogynistic approach during contract negotiations.
Scarlett Bordeaux, along with her real-life husband, Karrion Kross, was released from the company on August 10 amid talks about the renewal of their contracts.
The couple was involved in a feud with Sami Zayn on RAW, culminating in multiple encounters and a final match at SummerSlam, which Zayn won.
Both Bordeaux and Kross were serving their second term in WWE, having rejoined in 2022.
WWE Used Me As Leverage: Scarlett
During a recent appearance on Chris Van Vliet’s Insight, the 34-year-old star revealed how poorly the couple’s contract negotiations were held.
She also said that the representatives of talent relations were intent on closing Kross’ deal before even looking into her offer.
The contracts were separate. So, after talking to the representative of Talent Relations about my contract, one last question before the 24-hour notice was given — Kross asked where I stood in all these contract negotiations. They said, ‘We’ll get to yours once we’re done with his.’ Which I took as them using me as leverage against him.
Scarlett pointed out the hypocrisy, stating that she was hired before her husband in 2019; so, using her as leverage against him was bad business.
I feel if he had agreed within 24 hours, they would have offered me something — whether it was the same amount as before or less, I don’t know. But it felt like a massive red flag, and it came off as misogynistic, because I was originally hired before my husband in 2019.
The idea that I have no value without him and that my worth is determined by whether or not he signs — that came off as very misogynistic to me. [H/T: Ringside News]
Since their departure from WWE, Karrion Kross and Scarlett have made appearances in the independent circuit.
