Ex-WWE Champion Teases AEW Move
Ex-WWE Champion Mr. Kennedy is open to joining Tony Khan’s AEW.
Mr. Kenny, aka Ken Anderson, kicked off his WWE run in 2005. He won the United States Championship in 2007 and even snagged the Money in the Bank briefcase at WrestleMania 23 the same year. He got released from WWE in 2009 due to a backstage complaint from Randy Orton about his reckless in-ring skills.
Instead of fading out after his WWE release, he continued his journey in the indies and then turned it up in TNA, rebranding as Mr. Anderson, and scoring two runs as TNA World Heavyweight Champ. He remained a notable character in TNA through 2016.
For a bit, he worked the indie scene again, and he even ran his own wrestling school, The Academy, helping hopeful wrestlers break in. Fast-forward to 2025, and Anderson shocked fans by making a one-night-only return to TNA on the September 5 episode of IMPACT from Minneapolis, Minnesota, after a 9-year break.
Ex-WWE Star Mr. Kennedy Wants To Work With Julia Hart In AEW
On the recent Mic Check podcast, Mr. Kennedy made it clear he’s not done yet and is open to jumping into AEW if Tony Khan dials him up. He added he wants to run with a faction and maybe even work with Julia Hart in AEW.
“Yeah. No, it’s definitely not out. I’m open to anything, really. Yeah, I’m open to talking to Tony Khan. It’s just a matter of, you know, make the call. Make the call.”
“Who would I want to work with? Well, I’d like to work with my boys. Yeah, maybe, you know, a faction. And maybe Julia too, you know.” [H/T Ringside News]
Mr. Kennedy parted ways with WWE on bad terms, and thus, he didn’t want to return to WWE for a long time. But in an interview with Chris Van Vliet earlier this year, he stated he would work with WWE again.
