Ex-WWE Champion Kicked Out Of AAA

A former multi-time WWE World Champion is no longer a part of AAA.

Following the WWE acquisition of AAA wrestling out of Mexico, the name of Alberto El Patron appeared regularly in news stories because of his controversial WWE past.

During his WWE run, El Patron was known as Alberto Del Rio, who portrayed a wealthy Mexican character who drove luxury cars and boasted about his superiority to ordinary people. Del Rio was a four-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion during his tenure with the company from 2010 to 2014. He returned again for another year.

However, Del Rio was also controversial due to a strained relationship with former WWE superstar Paige. There were also legal issues that Del Rio had with other relationships leading to sexual assault and kidnapping charges against him. Those charges were dropped.

After it was announced that WWE bought AAA during WrestleMania 41 weekend, there were reports that the company had re-signed Del Rio. In reality, it was simply a case of WWE acquiring contracts from AAA talent. It was later reported that WWE was not re-signing Del Rio and there was “no f**king way” that he would be back in the company.

Alberto El Patron Loses AAA Match To End WWE Affiliation

At the AAA Alianzas event in Mexico on July 25th, the 48-year-old Alberto El Patron faced El Mesias in a match where, if El Patron lost, then he would be kicked out of AAA in a Loser Leaves Town match.

The finish of the match saw El Mesias throw powder in the face and hit Alberto with a Spear for the pinfall win.

What that means is that Alberto El Patron’s AAA career is over, which suggests that WWE likely decided for him to lose so that they don’t have to associate with him anymore. Considering his controversial past and the fact that he’s nearly 50 years old, it makes sense for WWE not to want to use him.
