A ex-WWE Champion has clarified their status as a wrestler amid retirement talks.

Cora Jade was one of the unfortunate talents released from the Stamford promotion on May 2, 2025. It ended her 4-year stint with the company during which she was a regular on NXT.

In her time on NXT, Jade was a one-time Women’s Tag Team Champion with Roxanne Perez. However, their kayfabe friendship would experience cracks, resulting in her turning on Perez.

She subsequently dropped the title, aiming for solo success.

In early 2024, she suffered from a torn ACL that would keep her out of action for nearly 10 months and reunited with Perez.

In February, dissension would again cause the ruin of her friendship with Roxanne for a second time.

Incidentally, her last WWE match was when she partnered with Roxanne Perez, only for the latter to abandon her midway through the match.

Cora Jade Talks Retirement After Release From WWE

Cora Jade has a special place in her heart for WWE.

After her release, she was featured on TNA a few times before she returned to the independent circuit. Her last match was in Prestige Wrestling on July 13.

The 24-year-old star recently appeared for an exclusive interview with TMZSports, wherein she confirmed stepping away from the ring.

Jade, however, has not retired.

People could think I’m retired, that’s fine, but I have no plans on retiring. I’m taking this break. If I wouldn’t have taken this break, yeah, maybe I would have retired because I would have went nuts and, like, went off the rails and I couldn’t have done it. But that’s why I’m taking the break because I do love wrestling and I do wanna have fun again and, you know, enjoy it and not just be upset about it all the time or feel, like, constant negativity about it.

I want to love it again the way I did as a kid. I want to feel that again. And so I feel like…even now I already miss it and I’ve only taken a month off. [7:53 onwards]

Elsewhere, a 37-year-old former WWE Champion, too, confirmed stepping away from wrestling.
