Ex-WWE Champion Accuses John Cena Of Refusing To Put Him Over

John Cena WWE Champion

In wrestling, athletes need to cast aside their egos.

After all, promotions like WWE, AEW, ROH, etc., are storytellers at the end of the day, with some wrestlers getting their time in the sun and others not.

John Cena is one of the most popular stars in the world, who is currently on his retirement tour. He has 10 dates remaining.

The 17-time World Champion has often been portrayed as someone who gets along with his peers and has spent a better part of his 23-year-long career being the face of the promotion.

While there have been wrestlers in the past who have used their influence to further storylines, Cena has claimed that he does not inject himself into such situations.

Jake Hager Reveals John Cena Refused To Lose To Him In WWE

Jake Hager, who wrestled under the name Jack Swagger in WWE, has had a notable rivalry with Cena.

Hager is a former WWE Champion.

During his recent appearance on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, he addressed the rumor that John Cena refused to put him over. At the time, Hager held the Money in the Bank contract.

Oh yeah, he absolutely refused to do it.

When asked about whether or not the confirmation came from Cena himself, Hager said:

I was told that was what happened. Because the original plan was I was gonna beat him Monday night on Raw and not do the tease. But I’m a young guy. I’ve been there for a cup of coffee, so what are you gonna do?

But I’m not the only guy he’s done that to, he did that throughout his career. I was surprised to see what happened with him and truth lately, because usually he tried to take that glory. But I feel like this time, he’s the one who said we better go with Truth and get him back here. [H/T: Insight with Chris Van Vliet]
