Ex-Writer Had Big Show Bizarre Storyline Idea Nixed By WWE Bosses

The Big Show Reveals Which WWE Moment Made Him

A former WWE writer had a strange Big Show storyline idea involving little people that never made it to television.

The Big Show is a WWE legend who had a 20-year run in the company. After AEW was formed, he signed with the company where he has wrestled in a few matches, done commentary work, and helps out in a backstage role using his real name, Paul Wight.

During his WWE career, he was a four-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion who also held the WCW World Title twice. Show went on to hold many other titles, main evented many shows and had a legendary career that will see him end up in the WWE Hall of Fame whenever he decides to return to the company.

Standing at 7 feet tall and weighing over 400 pounds for most of his career, Big Show will always be remembered as a larger-than-life figure who is one of the biggest men in pro wrestling history. There have been many other giants over the years, but not many of them can say they lasted over 20+ years in the business like Show did.

While Big Show was known as an angry giant for many years in his career, he was also a guy who was willing to show off his personality and have a little fun. An example of that was at Backlash 2000 when Big Show competed as “The Showster” and did a Hulk Hogan impression as he defeated Kurt Angle in a few minutes.

Big Show Being Afraid Of Minis Was Pitched By A Former WWE Writer

A former WWE writer named Tommy Blacha worked for the company from 1999 into the 2000s during the celebrated Attitude Era.

While appearing on Chris Jericho’s Talk Is Jericho podcast, Blacha recalled pitching an idea where Big Show was scared of minis aka little people wrestlers.

“My favorite thing that never happened that sucked and I loved it. ‘Vince, what if we do a thing where the Big Show hates minis. We get every mini wrestler in the world and even more. Every actor. Everyone. We get 200 of them and they all wear the same shit like masks. Big Show is like an elephant scared of a mouse. There is a point where the minis descend from all the areas of the arena and they throw themselves at him like they are all one and they’re like bees. We call them The Swarm.’

‘What the hell is that about? The Swarm?’ ‘Every mini you can get and they pile on Big Show. It’s endless.’ He’s like, ‘That’s great, start producing it.’

I started, behind the scenes, calling some Mecian promoters, ‘How many minis are there?’ Started to figure out logistics. ‘Where would they stay?’ ‘Put em in a semi.’ An RV. Someone said, ‘It’s picking season and most aren’t available from Mexican promotions.’ That was a dream. The Swarm. You can’t stop them. It’s 100 mini wrestlers all with the same mask.”

Even though Vince McMahon may have said it was “great” at one point, it didn’t happen on WWE television. At least Blacha admitted that the idea sucked, even though he loved it.
