A former world champion has ruled out ever returning to WWE.

Vince Russo had a seven-year stint in the Stamford-based company, where he worked closely with former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon as head writer. The 64-year-old is credited as one of the brilliant minds behind the Attitude Era.

Following his departure from WWE in 1999, Russo signed with WCW. Although his run with the promotion was brief, it saw him capture the WCW World Heavyweight Championship before vacating it.

The wrestling veteran left WCW in 2000. Two years later, he made a brief return to WWE but left again just days later. That same year, he joined TNA as a creative writer, spending 12 years in the promotion.

Why Vince Russo Refuses To Return To WWE?

After being away from the wrestling business for several years, Vince Russo recently returned as an investor and booker for Juggalo Championship Wrestling (JCW).

In a recent interview with -7 Sports, Russo was asked whether he would ever return to WWE. The wrestling veteran stated that it would never happen because he would not “fall in line.”

Never happening, bro. Never never happening, bro. I swear to God, bro, they could offer me millions of dollars. Because here’s what we spoke about earlier, bro. If you ever put Vince Russo in that system, bro, you’re not gonna control me. I’m not a robot. I’m not one of your NXT kids. I’m not 20some years old. I’m not gonna fall in line. You’re not gonna control me. And that’s what they want.

So, bro, that’s why, like, I would never for all the money in the world ever put myself in that situation because I would know that’s what they would want to do. And I’m a creative guy, bro. It ain’t gonna happen. And I’m not gonna kiss your a**. I’m not gonna kowtow. I’m not gonna fall in line. If you pitch something that I think sucks, I’m gonna tell you it sucks. And, bro, that would be the world’s biggest freaking nightmare. [36:22 onwards]
