This former well-known WWE Champion was rumoured to return to the squared circle.

WWE superstars returning to the ring after a hiatus are highly anticipated events, and almost always, a lot of scuttlebutt surrounds any rumours about such a return, especially if the superstar in question is a high-profile one.

Most recently, former World Heavyweight Champion The Great Khali was rumoured to be returning to the ring for his first match in over 8 years. Excited fans speculated that it would be for the Stamford-based promotion.

However, that wasn’t the case as Khali is slated to wrestle a match for his promotion in India.

The Great Khali Give Clarity On WWE Return Rumours

In a recent interview with TrueScoop TV, Khali addressed these rumours of his WWE return and clarified that he wouldn’t be making an in-ring return to the wrestling behemoth, but in fact somewhere else. The former World Heavyweight Champion had this to say:

“Look, that’s one of my companies, CWE. There’s going to be a big event in Jharkhand in which foreign wrestlers will also be there, and I will also be there. So, for those who don’t know, people associate wrestling with WWE, but it’s not,” Khali said. [Translated from Hindi to English] (1:16 onwards)

Khali runs his own wrestling promotion called CWE in India currently and says to the interviewer that he is happy being his “own boss”. He says that WWE has a limit and he wanted to move ahead in life which is why he chose to start his own company.

Khali was a force to be reckoned with during his time in WWE where he had feuds with big names like The Undertaker, Batista, Kane and Rey Mysterio. He has also wrestled in multiple other promotions in the past including New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) World Championship Wrestling (WCW) and All Pro Wrestling (APW) in the United States.
