Ex-TNA Champion’s Wrestling Career May Have Ended At 29
3-time TNA World Tag Team Champion Chris Bey’s wrestling future remains uncertain.
Bey suffered a devastating neck injury on October 27, 2024, during a TNA Impact TV taping in Detroit, teaming with Ace Austin against Matt and Jeff Hardy. In the match, a routine maneuver went wrong, leaving Bey paralyzed from the neck down, and rushed to the ICU for emergency spinal fusion surgery.
Doctors gave him just a 15% chance of regaining movement, but intensive rehab over several months helped him eventually stand and walk again.
TNA’s Chris Bey Is Thankful To Be Alive
It has been exactly a year since Chris Bey suffered the devastating injury. Marking the one-year anniversary of the injury that he suffered, Bey chose to reflect on the experience on Instagram.
The 29-year-old TNA star stated wrestling has been his passion since age 3; more than just a job, it’s been his life’s dream to become a wrestler. He acknowledged that not many get to follow and accomplish their dreams like he did. Despite the severity of his injury, he says he has no regrets about the path that led him to that moment.
Bey shared how talking with God and believing he was still alive for a purpose gave him incredible strength and motivation every day to push through his recovery. He is deeply thankful for all the support he got, which made him feel valued and loved during tough times. He ended on an optimistic note, celebrating being alive and hoping that his wrestling story isn’t finished yet.
“Wrestling has always been my life LONG before I made it a career. Since I was 3 I’ve been addicted and I’ve known this was what I wanted to do with my life. Rarely does one get to chase and achieve their dreams. If this was to be the end of my journey, I had no regrets in the decisions I’ve made that led me to this moment.
Had a lot of conversations with God, and understanding that I was still alive for a purpose made me push everyday with an unimaginable strength and drive. The support of my amazing girlfriend, the best tag team partner ever, TNA and the entire wrestling world kept me feeling like I mattered and I was cared about.
I’m so grateful and thankful for all of it. The work from doctors and staff, top notch. Today, I celebrate life because a year ago I thought it was the end of mine. Greatest Story Ever Told is far from over. I love you all. – Chris.”
