Ex-Tag Team Champions Set For WWE In-Ring Return After 5 Years
Ex-WWE Tag Team Champions are set to wrestle in the company after 5 years.
The IInspiration duo of Billie Kay and Cassie Lee are currently signed to Total Nonstop Action (TNA). During their time in the Stamford promotion, they went by The IIconics.
Last week’s NXT show experienced an “Invasion,” which was changed to “Showdown” on the September 30 taping after many viewers expressed concern, citing political tensions in the Middle East.
Nevertheless, it saw talent from both promotions clash yet again, with several matches finalized for October 7’s NXT Showdown.
Among the TNA superstars were the IInspiration, who earned themselves a chance to compete in WWE after half a decade.
It was previously announced that both brands would compete in a Survivor Series-style elimination tag team match in both the men’s and women’s divisions.
Kelani Jordan, who is signed to NXT and recently won the TNA Knockouts World Championship, was shockingly named the captain of the TNA women’s team.
While naming her picks, she called for The IInsporation to be added to the team, alongside Mara Sade.
Billie Kay and Cassie Lee wrestled as The IIconics in WWE for the last time in August 2020.
Who Is On The WWE Women’s Team For NXT Showdown?
At the beginning of the show, viewers learned that Jacy Jayne was named the captain of the WWE’s women’s team.
As the taping went along, Jaida Parker defeated Lash Legend in a singles match. Also, Lola Vice beat Jayne’s stablemate, Fallon Henley.
Impressed by their wins, Jayne added Parker and Vice to the team. Sol Ruca, who is the only double champion left on WWE NXT, was also added as one of the four members.
Like last week, the final segment ended in a melee, with wrestlers from both promotions throwing hands at each other before the showdown.
