A social media rant has proven costly for one former AEW star.

With US election night in full swing, former AEW and WWE wrestler Jake Hager decided to make his feelings known on social media.

Across a series of bizarre posts, Hager threatened to show proof that Tony Khan — a billionaire, is a communist, before claiming that Khan had threatened him in order to stop him from supporting Donald Trump.

“Do u want proof that @TonyKhan is a communist and threatened me to be silent or else?”

“Tony khan is someone who threaten my job if i didnt stop promoting my trump. He js a communist”

While Hager might be celebrating the election result, he’ll also be counting the cost of a canceled booking. In the hours after the star’s outburst, Blitzkrieg Pro Wrestling announced that he’d no longer be appearing for the company on December 14th.

Jake Hagar will no longer be appearing on December 14th in Enfield, CT.

On top of sponsors no longer being willing to work with him, we also just have to do what we think is right for our roster and fans.

We’re going to get to work on a replacement asap, however, a few people that are signed to appear:

Hager was signed to WWE from 2006 until 2017 and became World Champion in 2010. After a short spell on the independent scene, Hager signed with AEW in 2019 and formed part of the Inner Circle and later the Jericho Appreciation Society. It was during this period that his popularity hit new heights thanks to a purple bucket hat.
