Ex-AEW Star Is Excited About Ethan Page In WWE

WWE NXT Ethan Page

Former AEW star Matt Hardy believes Ethan Page has a huge future in WWE.

The 34 year-old Canadian made a shock debut during the 28th May edition of NXT, launching a vicious attack on NXT Champion Trick Williams before later being revealed as the man behind previous assaults on Meta-Four members Ora Mensah and Noam Dar.

Page arrives in WWE after a four-year stint with AEW and RIng Of Honor having previously spent a successful two years with Impact Wrestling, where he lifted the Impact World Tag Team Championship on two occasions alongside Josh Alexander.

Following the attack on Williams, an NXT Championship bout between the pair was signed for the Battleground Premium Live Event on 9th June, with the Champion retaining his title in the main event.

Despite not being successful in his attempt to capture NXT gold, Ethan Page’s former rival Matt Hardy remains optimistic about his future with the company. Speaking during a recent edition of his podcast ‘The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy‘, the former ECW Champion stated his belief that WWE was a good fit for Page:

“Full disclosure, I still gotta go back and watch the match, and I want to. But I’m very proud of him, very happy for him.

Glad he’s getting this opportunity and obviously, I wish him nothing but success. And I don’t even think I have to wish him, because I think he is so talented. He is so good, and he is so on top of his s**t.

I think he’s going to do great there, and I think he’s gonna kill it. Because he gets the opportunity — at NXT and WWE, being a sports entertainer is looked upon a little more proudly it is looked upon with a bit more of a smile. So I think it gives him a lot more room for like upward movement.”

Ethan Page Debut NXT Bout Fails To Impress Meltzer

Despite the excitement surrounding his first bout in NXT, Ethan Page’s battle for the NXT Championship with Trick Williams was awarded just 2.75 stars out of 5 by prominent wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer.

Veteran scribe Meltzer is no strange to upsetting Superstars with low ratings for their matches and recently drew the wrath of one WWE Superstar who questioned the 64 year-old’s credibility after being the recipient of a less than average mark for a recent bout.
