Ex-AEW Star Claims Tony Khan Nixed Series Of Segment Because He “Hated” Them
Joey Janela doesn’t think Tony Khan is his biggest fan.
Former AEW star, Joey Janela was a fan-favorite during his three-year tenure in All Elite Wrestling. However, according to Janela, the man who runs the show, company President, Tony Khan wasn’t too keen on he (Janela’s) and his former tag team partner, Sonny Kiss.
Janela posted the following on Twitter, responding to a fan who said that they missed Janela and Kiss’ segments on AEW programming:
“Tony hates them and didn’t even want them on tv,” Janela claimed.

Janela was a staple of AEW programming from the moment he signed in 2019, engaging in several mid-card feuds against the likes of Jon Moxley, MJF, Darby Allin, Sammy Guevara, and Shawn Spears. Janela made his final appearance for All Elite Wrestling on the 1/15 episode of AEW: Dark, in a losing effort against Lee Moriarty. Janela and the company decided to mutually part ways following his deal expiring on May 1 of this year.
While Janela continues to take over the independent scene, Tony Khan and co. are on cloud nine following their huge Dynamite: Grand Slam event. TJR’s full report on the show, including who the new AEW World Champion is, can be found by clicking here.
