Ex-AEW Star Credits Chris Jericho For Helping Him Get A Job

Chris Jericho makes his entrance at AEW WrestleDream

The legendary Chris Jericho was a big supporter of a former AEW star.

Chris Jericho has been All Elite since day one when AEW announced they were a new wrestling company in January 2019. Jericho is also the first AEW World Champion in company history who really helped carry the company in the first six months.

While Jericho is not considered office staff in AEW and he’s not an Executive Vice President like Kenny Omega or The Young Bucks, he does have a lot of influence. That’s because Jericho has seen it all and done it all in pro wrestling over the last 30+ years, so if he wants to do something or sees a talent he likes, he can make it happen.

Fuego Del Sol was not a heavily pushed wrestler in AEW, but he did work there from June 2020 to June 2023 when his contract wasn’t renewed. Sammy Guevera is a close friend of Sol and was devastated by Sol leaving the company.

While speaking on his YouTube channel, Fuego credited Chris Jericho for helping him a lot in AEW.

“Oh man, do I have some stories about this guy. We’re talking about Le Champion, The Ocho, Chris Jericho. Let me tell you a story about Chris.”

“The night before I signed, he was in the production call with the production crew and I was told that he emphasized that none of the crew should tell me that I was going to get signed the next day. They had already decided they were going to give me a contract on the first-ever episode of Rampage. On the phone call, he emphasized, ‘No one should tell this guy, if we want to get a genuine moment and big reaction out of Feugo Del Sol, you just keep this a secret.’ Afterward, he spoke to me and told me how much I earned it.”

“Without his approval, his stamp of approval, I don’t think I’m in AEW. He saw the reactions I was getting, he always made time for me. At any point, if I feel like I needed to run ideas by him or get advice, he was always there. It’s crazy to see the longevity of this man, how good he is in the ring to this day, how he constantly reinvents himself, and comes up with ideas to keep himself relevant. One of the GOATs. Big shoutout to Chris Jericho.”

Chris Jericho was destroyed by Powerhouse Hobbs recently on AEW Dynamite

Over the last couple of months, Chris Jericho turned babyface. For the first four years of AEW, he was one of the company’s top heels. However, when Don Callis and the Don Callis Family turned on him, it set up Jericho for a babyface run.

On the October 10th episode of Dynamite, Powerhouse Hobbs defeated Jericho in under ten minutes in a manner that isn’t that common. Hobbs dominated the whole match, Jericho barely made a comeback and Hobbs won in a dominant way. Jericho was off this week’s Dynamite to sell the idea that Hobbs destroyed him.
