Eric Bischoff Praises WWE Star For Their Work With Young Talent

Eric Bischoff

Eric Bischoff has tipped his hat to WWE, and one of the company’s biggest stars.

After being called out by Tiffany Stratton, Becky Lynch returned to NXT to face the star on September 12th. On the show, Lynch got the better of Stratton and won the NXT Women’s Title for the first time.

With the gold around her waist, Lynch set about defending the title against any and all comers. Over the next month, the star saw off the likes of Natalya, Indi Hartwell, and Tegan Nox, as well as beating Stratton again in a rematch.

However, Lynch’s run came to a shuddering halt on October 24th when she was defeated by Lyra Valkyria.

Speaking on Strictly Business, Eric Bischoff praised WWE and Lynch for how they used her star power to give a boost to NXT’s rising stars including Valkyria.

“It didn’t take anything away from Becky, but it allowed Becky to share some of her value and equity and raise the level of the talent that she was working with,” he said on “Strictly Business.” “That’s how you use talent correctly, established talent, when you’re working with younger talent. Just throwing them out there for the sake of throwing them out there is not going to get you to where you want to be, it’s a waste of great talent.”

Eric Bischoff Doesn’t Think WWE Needs CM Punk

While the WWE Hall of Famer was full of praise for Becky Lynch’s star power, there’s one star he believes WWE doesn’t need. During the same episode, Eric Bischoff said that WWE doesn’t need CM Punk, but stopped short of ruling out a reunion between the two sides altogether.

Bischoff explained that WWE doesn’t need Punk now, but they could come to a deal in the future despite how he left the company in 2014.
