Eric Bischoff Praises Current WWE Star For Their Current On-Screen Role

Former Raw General Manager Eric Bischoff recently heaped praise on Nick Aldis and his current role in WWE as SmackDown GM.

Bischoff, who had a lengthy on-screen role as Raw GM from 2002-2005, recently discussed on his 83 Weeks podcast how Aldis was different from General Managers of the past because he was also a wrestler, whereas GMs like himself couldn’t get physical on an even level with the talent as they weren’t wrestlers or were past their physical prime.

He’s about as perfect for [being GM], he’s also got that threat. He’s got that card in his back pocket that he can pull at any time and get physical. Teddy Long didn’t have that. I didn’t have that. Even John Laurinaitis, when he was GM, didn’t have it. Aldis is a double threat.

Eric Bischoff, who worked with Aldis when both were in TNA, also praised Aldis for how he has grown as a person throughout his career, and hopes to see him back competing in the ring before his career is over.

I can’t say enough good things about him. He’s not afraid to admit that when he came into the industry he had a full head. He thought an awful lot of himself, too much of himself. He embraced it and he grew from it. I hope [he is involved in the WWE/TNA crossover]. On a personal level, I’d love to see him check that box one more time before he hangs it up.

Aldis has worked for WWE since August 2023 and was named the on-screen SmackDown GM by Triple H two months later in October.
