Eric Bischoff Explains Why He Thinks Tony Khan Doesn't Know Enough About Wrestling

WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff has once again sparked conversation in the wrestling community with his pointed remarks about AEW President Tony Khan’s understanding of the wrestling business.

During an episode of his podcast, “83 Weeks”, Eric Bischoff offered a blunt assessment of Tony Khan’s approach, drawing a clear contrast between his own experience in the industry and Khan’s path to leadership.

I was a wrestling fan who eventually went on to become an executive in the wrestling business, Tony’s a wrestling fan who bought his way into the wrestling business.

Bischoff stated, highlighting the difference in their professional journeys. He quickly clarified that he wasn’t disparaging Khan for his method of entering the business, noting:

Tony bought his way in, and there’s nothing wrong with that, if I had a rich dad I would have bought my way in too.

Despite this, Bischoff’s critique primarily centres on Khan’s lack of production experience, which he views as a significant gap in Khan’s skill set.

When I say Tony doesn’t know what he needs to know about producing wrestling, it’s not because I’m an old man screaming at the clouds, it’s because it’s a fact. He doesn’t know what he doesn’t know.

Bischoff’s comments reflect a broader critique of Khan’s leadership of AEW, and they come as part of his ongoing concern about the company’s creative direction. The former WCW President has previously expressed doubts about some of AEW’s strategic decisions and creative patterns, suggesting that the company may not be on a sustainable path in the long term.

Which WWE Star Does Eric Bischoff Think Still Has Loads Of Potential Despite Already Achieving Huge Success?

Eric Bischoff said that he thinks Rhea Ripley still has loads of potential despite her numerous successes in WWE including capturing the NXT Women’s Title, winning the Royal Rumble, winning the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship, capturing both the Raw Women’s Title and the Women’s World Championship. Despite all her accolades, Bischoff said that he thinks she still has a lot of room to grow and is excited to see what the future has in store for Ripley.
