Eric Bischoff Confused By WWE’s Relationship With Netflix

Eric Bischoff Advocates Final WWE Run For Former Tag Team Champions

Eric Bischoff is feeling confused.

On January 6th, 2025, WWE Raw will begin life on Netflix in a deal said to be worth a staggering $5 billion. The move will mark the first time the company’s flagship show won’t air on broadcast television since its inception in 1993.

However, before the move to the streaming service comes into effect, Netflix is set to premiere a new docuseries on the life and career of Vince McMahon. The six-part series is expected — at least to a degree, to look into the various scandals that have surrounded McMahon, including the lawsuit filed by Janel Grant in January.

In the lawsuit filed against McMahon, John Laurinaitis, and WWE, Grant made a series of allegations including sex trafficking and sexual assault.

Eric Bischoff Questions WWE’s Relationship With Netflix

During a recent episode of his 83 Weeks podcast, Eric Bischoff admitted he was confused by the situation. The WWE Hall of Famer said the decision to air the documentary about McMahon appears to be at odds with Raw’s move to Netflix in January.

“I’m confused. The situation is confusing for me. This is Netflix, who just signed a $5 billion deal with WWE. The ink is still drying, they haven’t even had their first show yet, but Netflix is going to take, what has been the face of WWE, and they’re going to expose him to the world in a way that is not going to be flattering to the brand. One would think it would not be flattering to the brand.”

Bischoff added that unless it’s an attempt to put distance between the TKO Group and McMahon, it makes no sense.

“There’s no need to do this, unless there’s a reason for it — to further distance TKO from Vince McMahon. Otherwise it’s just confusing as hell.”

Eric Bischoff hasn’t worked for WWE since 2019 when he had a four-month spell as Executive Director of SmackDown. However, he’s continued to make occasional on-screen appearances and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2021.
