Edge Issues Statement Ahead Of Huge SmackDown Match
Edge looks back on over 30 years in the wrestling industry.
The Rated R Superstar is set to compete on the August 18th episode of SmackDown in his hometown of Toronto. To celebrate the landmark achievement, WWE has also acknowledged that this is Edge’s 25th anniversary with the company. While the marquee match will be a celebration, the former World Champion has confirmed that this is the final match on his current contract.
Ahead of the important match, the Hall of Famer has taken to Instagram to address the fans. Posting a picture of himself in the ring at 18 years old, the veteran of the ring has credited his upcoming opponent:
31 years ago. 25 of them spent in the WWE. This kid with the bad mullet and awkward ring pose, had an inkling but no true concept of what was in store. The only thing I know about tomorrow is that I am going to soak in every second and pretend I’m this 18 yr old kid again. Even though I know @wwesheamus is gonna hit me like a cinderblock. Couldn’t be facing a better opponent. Toronto I can’t wait to see ya. #smackdown
Who Is Edge Facing On SmackDown?
In a first-time-ever match, the two-time Royal Rumble winner will take on Celtic Warrior Sheamus in front of the Canadian crowd. Following a surprise appearance on the August 11th episode of the blue brand, The Rated R Superstar showed his appreciation for Sheamus helping him get back in the ring following a premature retirement.
The guest appearance on the Celtic Warrior Workouts YouTube channel would be the catalyst to a surprise return at the 2020 Royal Rumble and begin the current run in the company, allowing the Hall of Famer to retire on his own terms.
