Eddie Kingston Reveals What He Bought After First AEW Paycheck
Eddie Kingston has lifted the lid on his priority purchases with his first AEW paycheck.
The 42 year-old had spent almost eighteen years honing his craft around the world before signing with AEW in July 2020.
Stints with the likes of Chikara, Ring of Honor, and Combat Zone Wrestling caught the attention of Tony Khan’s organisation, who immediately handed Kingston an opportunity at the AEW TNT Championship on debut.
The New York native was unsuccessful, however, with Cody Rhodes retaining his title on the 22nd July 2020 episode of Dynamite. Kingston has since gone on to high profile rivalries with the likes of Chris Jericho, CM Punk and Sammy Guevara as well as becoming the inaugural AEW Continental Classic Champion after defeating Jon Moxley in a tournament final at Worlds End 2023.
Despite enjoying a lucrative contract with AEW, Kingston opted to treat himself with a more affordable gift with his first AEW paycheck.
In a recent chat with WrestleZone’s Bill Pritchard, Kingston revealed that the opportunity to upgrade from the notoriously frustrating ad-filled standard edition of YouTube could not be missed once his new found funds from AEW were available:
“I got the Premium, man. I’m making enough money now where I can afford the YouTube Premium with no commercials. I’m all about it. That’s one of the highlights from my first paycheck from AEW.
I got that, I got a PlayStation 5, and two pairs of Tims. Those are the things I got my first check, and that was the highlight of my day. And I paid my bills, but I was gonna get that stuff.”
Eddie Kingston Surgery Date Revealed
Kingston is set to a long spell on the shelf after suffering serious injuries during an unsuccessful defence of the Strong Openweight Championship against Gabe Kidd at NJPW Resurgence on 11th May 2024.
After suffering a broken leg and tears to the ACL and meniscus, Kingston could be out of action for over a year, with a date for reparative surgery recently revealed.
