Dwayne Johnson Hints At U-Turn Over Presidential Run
Dwayne Johnson seemed to recently rule himself out of a tilt at becoming President of the United States, but now he has rolled that back.
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson wouldn’t be the first pro wrestler to make the switch from the ring to the political battlefield with his name linked to a run for President of the United States in the future. Jesse ‘The Body’ Ventura became Governor of Minnesota back in 1999 and Glenn ‘Kane’ Jacobs is currently the Mayor of Knox County in Tennessee.
Speaking recently on CBS Sunday Morning. the former WWE Champion said he won’t be making a play for the White House because he has a much more important role to play in life:
“It’s off the table, yes. It is off the table. I will say this because it requires the B-side to this. I love our country and everyone in it. I also love being a daddy. That’s the most important thing, being a daddy. Number one. Especially during this time, this critical time in my daughter’s lives because I know what it was like to be on the road and be so busy that I was absent for a lot of years.”
“My first daughter’s growing up in this critical age at this critical time in her life and that’s what the presidency would do. My number one priority is my daughters. CEO sounds great, but the number one thing I want to be is daddy. That’s it.”
However a week is a long time in politics, and less than three weeks after Dwayne Johnson made those remarks, he has seemingly rolled back on them while answering questions for LADbible TV where he said of a potential run at becoming President:
“You never know, down the line, you never know.”
Johnson’s eldest daughter Ava Raine recently made her debut on NXT television where she was unveiled as the newest member of The Schism.
