Drew McIntyre’s Warning To Cody Rhodes After Vicious WWE SmackDown Attack

Drew McIntyre has his sights set on the WWE Title after destroying Cody Rhodes in the SmackDown main event.

John Cena started off WWE SmackDown in Montreal with an emotional speech about his final time in the Canadian city. The crowd was very receptive to him and chanted his name throughout the segment, which clearly made Cena emotional.

The interruption was obvious, and this time it was from Logan Paul, who picked up a tag team victory at SummerSlam. After the two men exchanged words, they agreed to a match at Clash in Paris on August 31st.

Drew McIntyre made his presence felt in the segment because he was there to attack Cena from behind. McIntyre and Paul teamed up to win at SummerSlam over Randy Orton and singer Jelly Roll, so clearly that McIntyre/Paul pairing enjoyed their time together as a duo.

In the SmackDown main event, Paul got his team disqualified after he hit a low blow uppercut punch to Cena. Paul and Cena went fighting to the back after.

McIntyre realized it was a great opportunity for him to go after the WWE Champion, Rhodes. After Rhodes cleared off the commentary table, Drew nailed Cody with the WWE Title to the head. Drew stared at the WWE Title. Cody got back up, so Drew McIntyre gave Cody a Claymore Kick to put Cody through the bottom of the commentary table.

Cody was down on the floor as Drew taunted him and trash-talked him. There were officials at ringside to try to get Drew to back away. Drew told Cody that the WWE Title is his.

What Did Drew McIntyre Say About Cody Rhodes After WWE SmackDown?

In a video posted on WWE’s social media, McIntyre commented: “Overlooked. Under appreciated. Ignored. No more.”

McIntyre also said this into the camera:

“I give the answers every single time. Every time I told Cody right to his face, I want him to win. I need to win. Then I’m going to beat him. That title belongs to me. How f**king hard is it to listen?”

Drew McIntyre is a two-time WWE Champion who hasn’t held the title since November 2020. He won the World Heavyweight Title at WrestleMania 40, but an attack by CM Punk led to Damian Priest cashing in Money in the Bank to take that title away, so McIntyre only held it for about five minutes.

The McIntyre-Rhodes angle on SmackDown will likely lead to a WWE Title match at Clash in Paris, but it’s not official yet.
