Drew McIntyre Reacts To “Controversial” CM Punk Possibly Rejoining WWE

CM Punk

Drew McIntyre has his say on CM Punk rejoining WWE.

CM Punk is no longer All Elite after Tony Khan fired the star for cause following a backstage altercation involving Punk and Jack Perry at All In. Khan described feeling his life was in danger as a result of what went on in Wembley Stadium and an investigation into Punk’s conduct gave a unanimous recommendation that the former AEW World Champion be let go.

While there has been no confirmation of whether or not Punk is beholden to a non-compete clause, many onlookers are already speculating over whether or not he could one day return to WWE.

Speaking to Sportskeeda Wrestling, Drew McIntyre had his say on the possibility of CM Punk once again joining WWE:

“I don’t make those decisions. I watch what I say in interviews. But he’s [CM Punk] certainly controversial, and he gets people talking. I’ll leave it at that.”

When did CM Punk leave WWE?

If CM Punk left AEW under a cloud, it’s not the first time he’s done that when leaving a wrestling company. On the day after the poorly received 2014 Royal Rumble, Punk walked out of WWE with creative frustrations boiling over. Punk was officially released by the company later that same year, receiving his leaving papers on the day of his wedding to his wife AJ Lee.

Punk returned to WWE programming in a fashion in November 2019 when he became a contributor on FOX’s WWE Backstage show.
