Drew McIntyre Name Drops AEW Star In Latest CM Punk Shot

Drew McIntyre

Drew McIntyre has reminded CM Punk of an old friend as he mocks a comment from Punk that has not aged well following WWE’s latest t-shirt release.

CM Punk and Drew McIntyre do not like each other but the bad blood really started flowing when Punk was injured in the 2024 men’s Royal Rumble match at the hands of McIntyre.

Since then, McIntyre has gloated but CM Punk has been more hands-on in his quest for revenge, repeatedly screwing McIntyre out of the World Heavyweight Title. That began at WrestleMania 40 after McIntyre defeated Seth Rollins for the gold but made the mistake of celebrating in Punk’s face.

Punk swept his leg while McIntyre stood on the commentary table before nailing him with his armbrace which allowed Damian Priest to cash in his Money In The Bank contract and win the title. At Clash at the Castle in Glasgow, McIntyre sought to get that belt back but in even more heartbreaking fashion, CM Punk intervened to stop that happening.

At Money In The Bank, Drew McIntyre claimed the briefcase and completed his vow to cash in on the same night, turning Damian Priest’s defence against Seth Rollins into a triple threat match before Punk struck again to ensure the Scottish star would not win the gold.

Now CM Punk is cleared to compete and will finally face Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam with Seth Rollins acting as the special guest referee for what is sure to be a hard-hitting showdown.

Drew McIntyre Mocks CM Punk Comments

Before that match takes place, however, Drew McIntyre has taken a shot at CM Punk’s previous comments about selling a t-shirt with another man’s name on it after WWE released a CM Punk shirt featuring McIntyre’s name. McIntyre noted on social media Punk’s comment aged as well as another famous remark Punk made on WWE TV many years ago when he gave a shout out to his former friend Colt Cabana:

“I ain’t ever had to put another man’s name on a shirt to sell it” Aging as well as “hey Colt Cabana how you doing?”

Punk’s shout out to Cabana came during his famous pipe bomb promo on Raw before his WWE Championship match with John Cena at Money In The Bank 2011. Punk and Cabana famously fell out during the pair’s legal battle against WWE doctor Chris Amann following comments Punk made about him on Cabana’s podcast.

The issue of Colt Cabana’s reduced role in AEW following CM Punk’s signing with the company was the catalyst for Punk to lose his cool at the post-All Out press conference in 2022 which led to his backstage fight with The Elite which ultimately proved to be the beginning of the end of his ill-fated time in Tony Khan’s company.
