Dominik Mysterio Could Win Back WWE IC Title, Not From John Cena
A wrestling pundit has made the case for Dominik Mysterio to win back the Intercontinental Title, and it could come with a character change, too.
The first WWE Intercontinental Title reign of Dominik Mysterio ended after 204 days this past Monday on Raw. During his title reign, Dirty Dom took on all comers and found creative ways to keep his title by cheating to win matches or getting help from allies.
After John Cena started his final WWE Raw in his hometown of Boston with a promo, the cocky former IC Champion Dominik interrupted. Dominik was there to complain to WWE’s CCO, Paul “Triple H” Levesque, about past unfair circumstances. That led to Cena and Dom exchanging words, which prompted Triple H to book the match right there.
Cena and Dirty Dom had a very entertaining match that saw Dominik try to cheat his way to victory multiple times, but the veteran Cena was too smart for him and got the victory with the Attitude Adjustment. It is Cena’s first time winning the Intercontinental Title, so he is now a Grand Slam Champion in WWE.
Following his title loss, Dominik Mysterio was shown backstage, furious about how nobody in The Judgment Day was there to try to help him, and he wasn’t happy with Triple H booking the match either.
“I don’t understand what happened. Where’s Finn? Where’s JD? Raquel? Roxanne? Anybody? Anybody? Where is The Judgment Day? Where is The Judgment Day when you need them, huh? Honestly, it doesn’t even matter. I’m still holding gold. I was cheated out there by my so-called boss, Triple H, putting me there. Where is my family? Why am I doing?”
At that point, Dominik walked away frustrated, but at least he’s still the AAA Mega Champion.
Dominik Mysterio Losing IC Title Could Lead To Winning It Back
On the Not Sam Wrestling podcast, WWE broadcaster and radio host Sam Roberts spoke about what could be next for “Dirty” Dominik Myserio.
“Dominik Mysterio has to be made right. Dominik Mysterio has to explain…and maybe…maybe, this is The Judgment Day is kind of mocking or whatever Dominik Mysterio for this loss. And this loss becomes the reason that Dominik Mysterio fights back against The Judgment Day, and turns babyface. That’s possible.
Maybe somebody beats John Cena for the title and then Dominik has to beat them to get his Intercontinental Title back. That’s possible. I don’t know. I’ll be watching it all but I think that like tonight was a pure fan service moment. And I feel like so often you get these moments and you don’t take them because you want to follow the logical train that you’re on. And I think more often, you just need to have these moments and go from there.”
Roberts went on to say he’s a Dominik Mysterio fan and didn’t want him to lose the IC Title, but he loved the segment and the match.
