Dominik Mysterio Credits “Real Father” Eddie Guerrero For Becoming A Pro Wrestler
Dominik Mysterio may have only made his WWE in-ring debut in 2020 but long-time fans remember very well his involvement in the 2005 feud between Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio.
The feud between the two WWE Hall of Famers was seen as verging on bizarre at the time with Mysterio and Guerrero facing off at SummerSlam 2005 in a ladder match with custody of Dominik on the line as Latino Heat maintained he was the youngster’s papi.
Fast forward, eighteen years and Dominik Mysterio is now a constant thorn in his father’s side with The Judgment Day continuing to pursue its issues with the older Mysterio and his LWO group.
Speaking to Chente Ydrach, Dominik Mysterio reflected on those appearances in 2005 and couldn’t resist taking a shot at Rey Mysterio as he paid tribute to his “real father” Eddie Guerrero:
“Seeing it now as an adult, it’s incredible to be in that position as a child. I was told that I was gonna get paid, I did not have to go to school or do homework during the feud, which was the best for me so I was ready.
“I told my dad that I was ready and to just let me know when, but it did scare me a bit because I was very shy and did not like to be in front of cameras & crowd. It was because of Eddie Guerrero, MY REAL FATHER EDDIE GUERRERO, that I am where I am and he planted the seeds to be a wrestler.”
Dominik and Rey Mysterio will be at ringside at Backlash when Dom’s “mami” puts her SmackDown Women’s Championship on the line against the LWO’s Zelina Vega.
Meanwhile, one former WWE star is not thrilled with some of the recent tributes in WWE to Eddie Guerrero, accusing Rey Mysterio of “almost taking things too far” at WrestleMania 39.
