Dominik Mysterio Talks Reconciling With His Dad – “I Dream About That Every Night”

The man known as “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio admits he’d love a reconciliation with his dad, but not the father most people might be thinking of.

Over the past year, the rise of Dominik Mysterio has seen him join The Judgment Day and recently become the NXT North American Champion as well.

While Dominik has been a contracted WWE superstar for about three years, longtime WWE fans know him from when he appeared on television regularly when he was a kid.

There was a 2005 rivalry between best friends turned bitter rivals Rey Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero on the Smackdown brand. Eddie couldn’t beat Rey in matches, so Eddie made it personal by revealing a secret: He was actually Dominik’s father.

The story came from the real-life fact that Eddie had a child outside of his marriage to Vickie Guerrero. The child was not actually Dominik, but WWE used the story that Eddie had a kid, which led to Rey and his wife Angie raising the child as their own. At SummerSlam 2005, Rey won a Ladder Match over Eddie to win custody of Dominik. Sadly, Eddie died unexpectedly later in 2005.

Since Dominik is a heel in WWE these days, there are constant references to Eddie being his father with Dominik doing the “Three Amigos” suplexes that Eddie loved to do along with the shake that Eddie did. Rhea Ripley also refers to Dominik as “Latino Heat” often, which was Eddie’s nickname.

During an appearance on WWE’s UpNXT show on Snapchat, Dominik Mysterio had a sarcastic response to a fan asking if he would reconcile with his father.

“Will you ever reconcile with your dad? I dream about that every night. Sometimes, it keeps me up, and I can’t sleep. But because he’s no longer with us, R.I.P. Eddie. I just do what I can at this point.”

The fan was likely asking about Dominik’s dad Rey Mysterio, who Dominik turned on nearly one year ago, so it’s funny how Dominik mentioned Eddie instead.
