Departing AEW Star Was One Of The Devil’s Henchmen

AEW Devil

A soon-to-be ex-AEW star had been working as one of The Devil’s Henchmen.

Since September, MJF has found himself at odds with a mysterious figure dubbed ‘The Devil’ and several masked henchmen working under his command. Since the group appeared, they’ve taken out Jay White, The Acclaimed, Billy Gunn, Hangman Adam Page, and MJF himself.

On the December 27th episode of Dynamite, two of the henchmen won the ROH World Tag Team Titles, demolishing MJF. It appeared as though the group had taken out Samoa Joe before the match, but once the action was over he appeared and hit MJF with a steel chair.

While the identity of The Devil and the new ROH Tag Team Champions remains a secret, one of the group has been unmasked. Reporting in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer noted that Shawn Spears had been working as part of the faction.

Shawn Spears announced he was leaving AEW on December 28th, confirming that he’ll become a free agent on January 1st.

“Spears hadn’t been used much but on a recent TV was one of the Devil’s guys.”
