‘Demon’ Finn Balor Return Being Prevented By “Booking Speedbumps” – Road Dogg
Why doesn’t WWE Superstar Finn Balor do his “Demon King” gimmick anymore?
Legendary D-Generation X and New Age Outlaws member Road Dogg thinks he knows why, saying that WWE has a problem when it comes to booking Balor as his alter ego.
Finn Balor’s “Demon King” character is one of the most bizarre and creative that the company has launched in recent history. In both NXT and on the main roster, the showcase was a fan favorite, and in the ring, it was dominant riding a lengthy undefeated streak before eventually suffering defeat. Even then, Roman Reigns and Samoa Joe are the only two to ever beat the “Demon.”
Despite the popularity and dominance, however, WWE has seemingly taken Finn Balor’s character off of television. The last appearance of the “Demon King” was at Extreme Rules 2021 when he would take a loss against the “Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns.
Currently the Senior Vice President of Live Events, Road Dogg explained that WWE could be worried about bringing the “Demon” character back because of multiple “booking speedbumps,” with one of the biggest, if not the biggest overall, being the gimmick losing a match.
“Look, I think one of the problems that arose is, can you beat the ‘Demon’? I think there are booking speed bumps in the ‘Demon. If he’s always the ‘Demon,’ ‘can he lose’ is a legitimate question. And I guess he can if he’s not supernatural. I think like Undertaker lost; it was horrible.”
