Dave Meltzer Analyses WWE SummerSlam
The Detroit-hosted PLE broke the record for the largest non-WrestleMania gate in history, continuing the company’s streak of their most lucrative financial year in history.
The show was opened by Ricochet facing Logan Paul, with both Superstars hoping to create another viral moment following their previous meetings at the Royal Rumble and Money in the Bank. Paul would win the match following assistance from one of his friends at ringside, who passed a set of brass knuckles to the YouTube star to pin the former Intercontinental Champion. The match opened the show so that the boxer could fly out to watch his brother Jake Paul compete.
The main event would end in heartbreak, as the Uso brothers would become divided following the events that took place in the final part of Tribal Combat. As Jey looked to dethrone Roman Reigns, Jimmy would pull his brother out of the ring and launch an attack. This would allow Reigns to take advantage and pick up the victory.
