Darby Allin Wants To Plant AEW Flag In Historic Location
Darby Allin has talked up the importance of AEW.
Risking life and limb in AEW has never been enough for Darby Allin who regularly undertakes insane challenges outside of the ring.
The biggest of these challenges saw him plan to climb Mount Everest in April 2024, but his plans were thwarted by a broken foot. However, he remains determined to reach the summit in 2025.
During an appearance at the AEW All In Texas ticket on-sale party, Allin reiterated his desire to climb Everest, claiming he’ll plant an AEW flag to show how important the company is.
“The cool thing with AEW is I can look at myself in the mirror and know exactly who I’m looking at. This company gives me so much. They let me do what I want to do out there in the ring in front of all of you, and they let me do what I want to do in my personal life.
I am climbing Mount Everest in April, and I’m going to take that AEW flag and plant it on top of the goddamn world to remind everybody what AEW is capable of.
When I climb down from that mountain, I’m coming to Globe Life Field, and as a whole, AEW as a family, we’re going to remind the world exactly what this company is capable of. Because it doesn’t happen with just us, it happens with every single one of you.
We wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for you guys. So, thank you for coming out. Thank you for continuing to show the love. Globe Life Field, July 12th, is going to be very, very, very special, and we are not going to put on anything less than what you guys deserve.”
Darby Allin Tipped To Win AEW World Title
During the same event, Sting predicted Darby Allin would become World Champion in 2025.
Although he’s yet to claim AEW’s richest prize, there were once plans for Allin to win the gold. Following WrestleDream it was reported that Allin was supposed to win the World Championship at the event, but the decision was made to put Jon Moxley against Bryan Danielson following his heel turn.
Allin is currently taking part in the Continental Classic where he sits second in the Gold League.
