Damian Priest & Finn Balor In Controversial WWE Title Win
Damian Priest & Finn Balor brought home gold at WWE Payback.
Damian Priest and Finn Balor were warned by Rhea Ripley that they better bring home gold at WWE Payback after their recent squabbles and it took the entire forces of The Judgment Day to make sure that happened.
Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn had held the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship since winning the gold in the main event of WrestleMania 39 from Jimmy and Jey Uso but that all changed in Pittsburgh in a Steel City Street Fight but despite the lack of rules there was still a smack of controversy about the finish of the match.
Rhea Ripley, Dominik Mysterio, and JD McDonagh all got involved in the bout to help Balor and Priest seal the win with Mysterio nailing Zayn with Priest’s Money In The Bank briefcase to ensure victory. The win means The Judgment Day is now one of WWE’s great factions that sees all members holding gold simultaneously.
What else happened at WWE Payback?
Cody Rhodes appeared as a special guest on The Grayson Waller Effect and he had a big surprise for everyone in attendance. Rhodes announced a new star for Monday Night Raw as he welcomed Jey Uso back to WWE after his short hiatus from the company.
Seth Rollins retained his World Heavyweight Championship in the main event against Shinsuke Nakamura while Rhea Ripley ensured The Judgment Day remained golden with a win over Raquel Rodriguez. However, the night may have belonged to Becky Lynch and Trish Stratus who stole the show in a Steel Cage match which was won by Lynch.
