Find Out Who Really Created Iconic WWE Character – It Wasn’t Vince McMahon

Vince McMahon WWE confused

A WWE Hall of Famer has revealed it wasn’t Vince McMahon who created his iconic character, so who did?

Charles Wright is best known to WWE fans under different names, depending on your age. Papa Shango, The Supreme Fighting Machine Kama, Kama Mustafa, The Godfather, and The Goodfather were all monikers used by Wright over the decades, but one stood out more than most.

The Godfather was the perfect character for the Attitude Era, as he was accompanied week after week by his never-ending entourage of “hoes.” But it might surprise fans to know that it was not then-WWE boss Vince McMahon who came up with the idea of the fun-loving pimp.

Vince McMahon Did Not Create Popular WWE Character

Speaking on The Velvet Rope, The Godfather explained that his colourful character was not a creation of Vince McMahon, but rather something that his wife came up with:

Believe it or not, the whole Godfather character was my wife’s idea. All of it, not Vince. She was basically like, ‘If we could find a way for these people to see the real you… we got something.’

So she came up with the character. She had all the outfits made, all the jewellery made. She had a hat company sending us hats… I just went out there and did the silliness.
