Haynes was back in the news again when he was officially charged with his wife’s murder in February 2024. The incident happened on the morning of February 8th, with the shooting believed to have occurred at 9:52 am.
It was reported that 85-year-old Janette Becraft was the victim, and her husband, Billy Jack Haynes, was the suspect. Billy Jack Haynes was recently deemed unfit to stand trial, but his legal troubles are far from over.

FOX 12 Oregon has now reported that Haynes is being sued by Becraft’s estate for elder abuse, according to court documents. The $750,000 suit was filed on May 22nd and alleges that Becraft was a victim of mental, physical, and financial abuse at the hands of Haynes for five years before her death.
