Controversial Ex-WWE Star Eyeing Retrun

A former WWE star would be open to return.

After finding a measure of success in MMA, Matt Riddle moved into pro wrestling in 2014 before signing with WWE four years later.

Riddle initially starred in NXT before moving to the main roster where he won the United States Title. However, it wasn’t until he formed an unlikely tag team with Randy Orton that his career really took off.

The pair won tag team gold on multiple occasions, with RK-Bro becoming incredibly popular with fans. Unfortunately, that run came to an end in May 2022 when Orton was forced to take a break from the ring due to a serious back injury.

The Viper wouldn’t return until well over a year later, and during his absence, Riddle was released.

During an appearance on Developmentally Speaking, Riddle was asked whether there was anything he would have liked to have done in WWE that he didn’t get a chance to do.

He said that while he loved everything he did, he would love to finish his story with Orton, confirming the pair still speak on a regular basis.

“I loved everything I did. I wish I would have been able to finish the run with Randy [Orton], with his injuries and then when we first started teaming up, he got COVID and was out for a couple months, he got it really bad.

Then with the injuries, he’d have to take weeks off here and there. I was honestly waiting for him to come back…like I said, the one that I really wanted to finish was RK-Bro. RK-Bro has some untied ends, some loose ends if you will. It’d be nice to finish that, even if it’s just me getting punted, whatever.

It’d be nice to put a period at the end of it….RK-Bro, I’d like to finish that. But if I don’t, me and Randy are still friends. He texts me and messages me all the time, and that feels good enough. So yeah, I’m happy,”

Riddle was fired by WWE in September 2023 after an incident at JFK Airport, where he appeared to be intoxicated, and fellow passengers noted he was “loud and rude.”

Matt Riddle also alleged that he’d been sexually harassed by an officer at the airport.

Since leaving the company he’s also admitted to failing multiple drug tests during his run on the main roster.
