Controversial Ex-WCW Star Praying For WWE Hall Of Fame

One former WCW star is still praying for an induction into the WWE Hall of Fame despite their unceremonious exit from the company.

In 2001, Vince McMahon bought his competition as he took over WCW ending the wrestling war once and for all. A whole host of WCW talent made the jump to WWE including Booker T, while many of WCW’s biggest stars stayed at home as their contracts were paid up by WCW’s former owner.

Buff Bagwell was one star who made the jump to try and make his name in WWE but that ended in complete disaster. On the 2nd of July 2001, Raw infamously gave its main event slot to a WCW World Title match between Booker T and Bagwell which was over in five minutes. WWE gave the segment full WCW branding including its own commentary team but that was the night that the invasion angle truly sunk.

Buff The Stuff was fired from the company not long after since then Buff Bagwell’s had a controversial reputation due to his exploits outside of the ring. But it seems he wants to make amends.

Buff Bagwell Hoping For WWE Hall Of Fame Induction

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Buff Bagwell revealed that despite his past experience in the company, he’d love to be involved in WWE:

I’d love to have some kind of Legend deal. Or helping the boys, or helping the school out. Some part of being under that WWE umbrella. I’d love to be a part of that.

Bagwell continued, noting that he believes his CV as a five-time WCW World Tag Team Champion as well as being the promotion’s “Rookie of the Year” in 1991 is enough to get him into the WWE Hall of Fame, something he hopes happens in his lifetime:

The 20 years I blew, I believe will be corrected before I die. I really believe I make the resume part of it. But there’s more to the Hall of Fame than that. You gotta be a good person and show that you’re a good human being, and I’m on that right path now. I just hope and pray that I will [get there].

The next WWE Hall of Fame induction ceremony is expected to be held in conjunction with WrestleMania 41 in April. No names have yet been announced for the Class of 2025.
