Confused WWE Star Congratulates Triple H & Shawn Michaels On Title Win
There are new WWE Tag Team Champions following SmackDown and despite what one star might think, it’s not Triple H and Shawn Michaels.
While much of the attention is already on Money in the Bank, there was the small matter of the July 5th edition of SmackDown to deal with first. As it turned out, the show was a big one for two of the blue brand’s most popular stars.
In the main event, Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano defeated Austin Theory and Grayson Waller to claim the WWE Tag Team Title.
The end of the match came with both Gargano and Ciampa locking in cross-faces on their rivals until Waller tapped out. The finish was a callback to DIY winning the NXT Tag Team Titles from The Revival in the same city back in 2016.
Now former World Tag Team Champion R-Truth has celebrated the team’s success in his own unique fashion. Truth has long confused Ciampa and Gargano for the DX pair of Triple H and Shawn Michaels and offered his congratulations to the WWE Hall of Famers for winning gold on social media:
I’m so proud of my boys @TripleH and @ShawnMichaels! #AndNew#DXisBack

When Did DX Last Hold WWE Gold?
Despite their history together, Shawn Michaels and Triple H only held the WWE Tag Team Championship on one occasion. The pair won the gold from Chris Jericho and The Big Show at TLC in late 2009 but lost their title just 57 days later to Big Show and The Miz.
That title was the last that Shawn Michaels held during his illustrious career while Triple H would go on to capture the WWE Championship one more time in 2016 as he feuded with Roman Reigns.
