Jeff Jarrett Explains Why Cody Rhodes Should Win At WrestleMania 39

Cody Rhodes Roman Reigns

A WWE Hall of Famer thinks it’s a “no brainer” that Cody Rhodes should beat Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39 to become the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.

The main event of WrestleMania 39 on Sunday, April 2nd will see Roman Reigns defending the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship (aka the WWE & Universal Titles) against the 2023 Men’s Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes.

With WrestleMania 39 set to take place this coming weekend, there are a lot of people offering opinions on who should win the Cody-Roman match. If Cody Rhodes wins then it puts an end to Reigns’ 900+ days as the Universal Champion and Reigns has held the WWE Title for nearly one year going back to WrestleMania 38.

One man that is picking Cody Rhodes is WWE & TNA/Impact Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett, who currently works for AEW. Jarrett also has a lot of experience as a man that ran TNA/Impact as the company’s founder and main booker for many years. On Jarrett’s My World podcast that’s on AdFreeShows.com, Jeff talked about the story of Cody beating Reigns.

“I don’t remember a time off the top of my head that the industry had the opportunity because Cody, and they’ve positioned it, yes, it’s lineage and winning a title that his father never won. That’s emotional. Cody going away, maybe not having the most successful run. Started from the ground up. All the Independent scenes. All that bandwidth.”

“Obviously the story at AEW, it goes without saying, is a part of this story. Him going back and the opportunity. Now on the opposite side of the fence is a guy that hadn’t been beat in three years. You don’t really get those opportunities to come around.”

Another reason that Jeff is backing Cody Rhodes to win is that he thinks that Roman Reigns working a limited schedule isn’t sustainable in today’s wrestling business.

“I’ll say this. If Roman didn’t do the honors, I truly believe it would hurt Roman worse than it would hurt Cody. It’s no secret Roman only works select shows. I mean, he’s done RAW and SmackDown both here as of late, but for a long time, he was one day a week. I don’t believe that’s sustainable in so many ways in this industry. I just don’t.”

“You can use the analogy of a TV show, a movie, or a musical act. When you’re a touring company, you better have your lead singer on almost every show. That’s just the reality and when you don’t, the product is less than. My understanding is Cody is saying, ‘Line me up. Let’s go to work ala Cena, ala anybody in that top role,’ so it’s a no brainer.”

This past Monday on the March 27th edition of Raw, Cody beat Roman’s cousin Solo Sikoa while Reigns wasn’t at the show.

There have also been recent reports that WWE has a new World Title ready to go whenever they want to debut it.
