The Royal Rumble is approaching and rumours over what will happen at WrestleMania are swirling but Cody Rhodes says he’s still the man for the job.
Cody Rhodes failed to finish his story at WrestleMania 39 when Roman Reigns defeated him to retain the WWE Universal Championship. However, Rhodes is adamant that he will get his hands on championship gold but his path might not be straightforward.
CM Punk shocked the world when he returned to WWE at Survivor Series and he is the favourite to win the men’s Royal Rumble which would guarantee him a title shot at WrestleMania but his planned match could be in doubt. World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins has suffered a knee injury with his status to be addressed on Raw. Punk and Rollins looked to be on a collision course one way or the other but those plans could now be up in the air.
With Rhodes believed to be still going after Reigns, that match could also be up in the air with suggestions that The Rock is set to return for his long-awaited contest against Roman Reigns. The Rock recently doubled down on his comments about Roman Reigns, suggesting it was time for him to sit at the head of the table.
Cody Rhodes Aware Of Recent WWE News
After WWE SmackDown in Atlanta went off the air, Cody Rhodes appeared in front of the live crowd and had a message for them and it seems Rhodes is open to bringing any world championship home:
Atlanta is my hometown. I’ve done some silly stuff here. Jumped off of a cage that was too high, set myself on fire, got into a fight with Brock Lesnar. I’ve done a few silly things. But all of them were in the efforts to give this city, the town, the community that raised me something to remember. When you’re home, you share things that only you would share at home.
Here’s one. There is only one thing that makes me tired of coming home. The only thing that makes me tired when coming home is coming home empty-handed. I think we need to change that. I am not immune to all the news, everything that’s happening, what will happen, what won’t happen. All I can tell you is this. I’m the right man for the job. I’m the best man for the job. I’m heading into the Royal Rumble, I’m gonna go back-to-back, and I’m gonna bring a championship back home to Atlanta.
