Cody Rhodes Names 2 WWE Stars He Wants After Roman Reigns

Cody Rhodes

Cody Rhodes is already making plans for what he wants to do after WrestleMania.

Cody will main event the biggest WWE show of the year in a month’s time when he challenges Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

If he wins, he will end the longest world title reign in WWE since Pedro Morales’ 1,027-day reign from February 1971 to December 1973.

Defeating Reigns will be a major challenge but Cody’s still full of confidence going into that big title match. So confident, in fact, that he’s already discussing who he wants to face next.

During an appearance on The AJ Awesome Show, Cody Rhodes named the two WWE superstars he wants to face the most once his feud with Reigns ends.

The first name on this list is Johnny Gargano, whom Cody Rhodes wants to face because he saw Gargano as direct competition when AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT were competing head-to-head on Wednesday nights.

“If I was to be so lucky as to be the one to beat him [Roman Reigns], don’t want to look past him, but for the purposes of your question, there’s a couple. Two come to mind.

One is (Johnny Gargano), and that’s because when I was with my former company, I always remembered kind of going head-to-head with him on Wednesdays.

When I say that, out of respect, you had to oppose him with something strong because he delivers, and he’s a wrestler’s wrestler.”

The second name Cody Rhodes mentioned was Edge. Cody had two reasons for picking him: 1) because Edge doesn’t have much time left as an active wrestler; and 2) because he wants to show Edge that “he’s not a kid anymore.”

“The other one is Edge. I’ve told some people that before. I don’t think I’ve told Edge that because I don’t want to seem adversarial or confrontational. But I don’t know how much time Edge has left.

He could do this forever if he wanted to. He’s in better shape than every locker room combined for some reason.

But when I was on SmackDown, I remember was a really good locker room leader, a true locker room leader, would he able to pull you aside for a note here and there but wasn’t overbearing.

But he looked at me as a child, a kid. Those people who look at you as a kid, you want to one day stand opposed and let them know you’re not a kid anymore.

Hall of Famer, he’s the real deal. He’s in that lofty air that very few are in. While he’s here, and he could be here forever, but while he’s here, I’d like to get that one.”

It wasn’t clear whether Cody Rhodes would be offering title shots to either of these two stars should he walk out of WrestleMania 39 victorious.
