What Cody Rhodes Said After WWE Elimination Chamber Attack
Cody Rhodes didn’t have a fun night at WWE Elimination Chamber, but at least he’s able to joke about it.
The main event of WWE Elimination Chamber saw John Cena pick up a huge victory over five top superstars. The reward for Cena is that he will get to challenge Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania.
After the match was over, Rhodes greeted Cena in the ring and they hugged as a sign of respect. That’s when “The Final Boss” The Rock showed up with Travis Scott. The Rock wanted Cody to give him his soul, but Cody said no because that belonged to the fans. Cody told Rock matter-of-factly: “Go f**k yourself.” That phrase was criticized by WWE Hall of Famer Jeff Jarrett even though the fans reacted to it.
While Cody deserves credit for standing up to The Rock, it ended up costing him dearly when John Cena turned heel by kicking Cody in the groin and aligning with The Rock. That led to Cody getting attacked by Cena, Rock, and even Scott, who smacked Cody in the head. It was reported that Cody Rhodes suffered a busted eardrum and a black eye during the attack.
Conrad Thompson is a popular podcast host who spoke about reaching out to Cody on Thompson’s 83 Weeks podcast with Eric Bischoff.
“I saw the report earlier this week, I checked on Cody and I was like, ‘Dude, I saw it, but a burst eardrum? Are you okay, holy s**t.’ He replied, ‘Didn’t touch me, I got a wild bruise somehow though’ and sent me a picture. I said, ‘Well damn, I’m glad you’re okay mostly.’ He jokingly said, ‘The horsemen got me.’”
As he continued, Thompson commented on how Cody tends to downplay injuries.
“I just thought it was funny that Cody even now is like, ‘Ah, he didn’t touch me.’ Now of course we know, that’s not the case, he’s sporting a major black eye right now. I don’t know if it’s true or not that he burst his ear drum but buddy, it is a brutal blow that we saw there.”

At WWE Elimination Chamber, Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes turned down The Rock’s offer to become “his champion.”
Then, moments after winning the right to challenge Rhodes at WrestleMania by winning the Men’s Elimination Chamber Match, John Cena aligned with The Final Boss and executed a brutal attack on The American Nightmare.
How will the titleholder respond? Don’t miss all the action, this Friday at 8 ET/7 CT on SmackDown on USA.
Regarding John Cena, he is expected to return to WWE television on the March 17 edition of Raw in Brussels, Belgium.
