Cody Rhodes Predicts Outcome Of John Cena Vs. Brock Lesnar
Cody Rhodes and John Cena’s storied rivalry ended on Night 2 at SummerSlam.
But the August premium live event also did the job of renewing an age-old feud.
After Rhodes beat Cena, becoming the 2-time Undisputed WWE Champion, the wrestlers hugged. The American Nightmare exited the ring to give his opponent the spotlight.
As the fans at MetLife Stadium celebrated the 17-time World Champion, Brock Lesnar’s music hit much to everyone’s amazement.
Cena himself looked shocked. Lesnar’s last appearance was against Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam 2023 in a losing cause.
Between then and his return at the 2025 SummerSlam, The Beast was named in an amended lawsuit by former WWE employee Janel Grant, which accused Vince McMahon of sexual assault and trafficking.
It is believed that WWE’s legal team cleared Brock believing there is no legal case against Vince McMahon, although the civil case will continue.
Lesnar then entered the ring and hit Cena with an F-5.
Cody Rhodes Backs John Cena At Wrestlepalooza
Following Brock’s Lesnar’s attack, it was believed that he would be John Cena’s next challenger in his retirement tour, which was later confirmed.
Wrestlepalooza is scheduled for September 20, and both Lesnar and Cena will kick off the show on ESPN.
Cody Rhodes appeared on ESPN’s Get Up to hype up the upcoming PLE.
When host Mike Greenberg asked what fans can expect from this match, the champion said his piece and backed Cena to win.
It’s a very special match-up. In terms of Brock Lesnar, former UFC Heavyweight Champion, won the NCAAs, which is the hardest tournament in all of folkstyle wrestling. But then there’s John Cena. And John Cena is the ultimate red light guy, can do things that nobody can do. So, I’m giving John Cena the edge, but these guys won’t be here forever. This is a special moment in time. I’m excited to see it myself. [2:20 onwards]
